Antonio Mirabile is a paper conservator and a consultant in preventive conservation. He studied Book and Paper conservation in Florence where he obtained a diploma in 1990. After working briefly in private and public conservation studios he went in France, where he currently lives. In France he is accredited by French Ministry of Culture to conserve and restore the cultural heritage belonging to the Musées de France. He works regularly for the National Museum of Modern Art (Centre Pompidou) mainly with architecture and contemporary drawings and for the Fondation Guerlain.

 

After working on various preservation projects in different French Museums, he went to pursue Post Graduate Studies (Master) in Preventive Conservation at the Paris I – Sorbonne University. His interest in foreign cultures has led him to work, as UNESCO expert, in Yemen, Egypt, Mongolia, DPRK, Uzbekistan and Mauritania. Today he shares his professional activities between UNESCO missions, preventive conservation assignments, paper conservation treatments and scientific research in particular with the Chemistry Department in the University of Florence . He is an active member of ICOM and the Blue Shield and he has thought workshops about Preservation Planning in Haiti and Brazil.

 

Antonio Mirabile has published more than 30 articles and two UNESCO handbooks.
